Nursing Saga, Continued….

Upon reading this, you may think, “Wow, she’s old”, or “That doesn’t seem right”…but here it is. This summer I am celebrating being a nurse for 35 years. Don’t bother doing the math, it’s all I’ve ever done job-wise, and I started nursing when I was 10 years old. Just kidding…

This length of time leads to reflection, and these are the things that I have realised:

  1. I have personally touched, and taken care of, literally thousands of people.
  2. I have been involved in some of the most scary moments someone can have, with people from all around the world.
  3. I have watched people die, and I have watched people being born. Those people probably have birthed their own people by now.
  4. I have seen very good healthcare workers, and very bad ones.
  5. I have witnessed critically ill people live longer by just their optimism, and not so ill people live much shorter lives from pure fear and negative emotions.
  6. Most of all, I have been completely amazed by the intricate, seemingly miraculous, inner workings of the human body.

Let me stress to you the important part of all this in relation to today’s issues. I work primarily in an operating room setting. I see naked people almost every day of my live. It doesn’t matter if you’re fluffy, lumpy, bony, wrinkly, deformed, or missing the outside layer of your skin: we are all the same in the most basic, foundational way.

Because I have seen all types of people, and I have taken care of people regardless of age, gender, color, shape, and personality, it’s all the same to me. I’m going to hold your hand when you are put under anesthesia even if we can’t communicate, because you’re scared. Holding your hand is what I would want you to do for me. I am in this profession to take care of people.

Some of you reading this may not be Christian. I have to say that even so, Jesus Christ was a perfect teacher. The rule is to LOVE ONE ANOTHER. That’s pretty much what it all boils down to. Mother Teresa said, “If you judge people, you have no time to love them.” I have to think all major religions across the globe call for mercy and love for each other. I am not a theologian, but I’m pretty sure about that.

We all are born here with a different set of circumstances, and a different set of challenges and obstacles. Some of us are seen as “lucky”, and others “cursed”. There is a spectrum for sure. One thing I have witnessed, however, is that some of those that are labeled as “cursed” have changed the course of life through gratitude and love. Some that are “lucky” have taken the path of fear and hatred, thereby slowing progression into a peaceful life. My thought here, is that it is not my – or your, job to “fix” people, either through argumentation, or judgement. We can steer people to a happier existence by eliminating thought processes that are unhelpful, like racism. For what is racism basically, but fear that you are not going to have what others have, or will be seen as someone less worthy to receive goodness? This is not real. There is plenty of goodness for everyone on earth. The paradox is that, the more you give, the more you will receive.

Take that and absorb it, or throw it away. I will still hold your hand when your mind is not in the right place, because I believe each little moment someone shows love, they change the world. That is why I will be working until I think I can’t do it anymore.

Have a peaceful weekend. Cheers, Deb

All Dogs Are Winners

Here is a simple question for you, “What, above all things, does your dog really want?”

Answer….YOU. If dogs could talk, which would be great, I am sure all they would say is that they want to be with their people. Dogs are amazing creatures (and I’m not down on cats, they are amazing too) with some serious loyalty. Even a dog that is beaten will come back and hang with their owner. Why do dogs do that?

I am not a dog expert, but I am a dog lover. I have no idea what it is inside a dogs head that makes them so darn loyal. They watch our every movement, usually follow us around the house, sit with us, sleep with us – just about live for us exclusively. Some dogs are more detached than others, but you can bet they love us just as much.

Once I read something that made me cry inside: “You may have many dogs in your life, but you are the only parent they will ever have.” In other words, you’re it! Try to live up to that expectation of perfection, if you can.

That is one thing about this condition we are in right now (I call it, IT) that can be thought of as a positive. Your dog is soooo happy right now! Their dream of having you all to themselves has finally come true. You are spending all day, every day, in the company of your little admirer. How wonderful for them!

So, instead of thinking about all the things you’re missing out, just look at that beautiful face, and know that in the mind of your dog, this is the best time of their lives. Go and spend some quality time with that little creature that regards you as supreme being of the universe….your loving dog.

Cheers, and happy weekend. Be safe, Deb

If You Love Me, You’ll Buy Me Digestive Enzymes….

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and I have to admit I have never been a fan. Valentine’s Day to me, is a sneaky way to get us to purchase needless items in an attempt to declare love for someone. I feel that performing “loving” actions on a daily basis is a much better measure, but, what do I know?

Actually, nothing extremely fantastic has ever happened to me on VD (I like to call it that). I have never found a diamond in a dessert, or been blindfolded and taken to a secret location for the weekend. Nothing. Like. That. Ever. So this year, I have decided to ask for something I really need – digestive enzymes.

For about 3 months I have had 2 empty bottles of digestive enzymes sitting on my kitchen counter. Now, this was simply a way for me to remember to re-order them. As you may know, I avoid gluten in an attempt to reduce pain and inflammation. You can read my old blog here: https://wordpress.com/block-editor/post/debhead.home.blog/346

Taking a digestive enzyme breaks down the food better, and I think it helps prevent “leaky gut”. This is when the gut lining is damaged and allows food, or toxins, to enter the bloodstream. You can read about that in this Harvard.edu article: https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/leaky-gut-what-is-it-and-what-does-it-mean-for-you-2017092212451

Guys, I’m just telling you that if you really want to know what your girlfriend or spouse wants for that special day, open up your eyes and look around the house. She will leaves clues, or hints; possibly a couple of empty bottles on the counter. I doesn’t always have to be something unique or extravagant (although that would be cool), sometimes it’s just knowing that you care enough to take care of her…..aka. digestive enzymes.

If she always has her nails done, buy her the next couple months of manicures and pedicures. If she can’t miss the premiere weekend of the next big blockbuster, then preempt that by buying her dinner and a movie. I think you get the gist. Do the things she likes, or needs but doesn’t want to spend the money on right now. Take care of her. Yes, this can be applied to girls taking care of guys or partners as well.

Valentine’s Day is about love, not excessive needless waste….unless you’re into that. Simple things work the best. So, honey, if you’re reading this, please get me the next bottle of digestive enzymes.

Take care and love someone! Cheers, and follow. LOVE, Deb

Entering the 5th Dimension

7 signs you’re moving into the 5th dimension:

  • More joy and love in daily life
  • Negative issues are released easier
  • The world seems more beautiful
  • Time feels like an illusion
  • Experiencing regular synchronicities
  • You feel guided by a higher power
  • You can access powers of a multi-dimensional body

Over the past few years I have noticed that I am on a quest of some kind. This kind of quest pertains to my spiritual enlightenment, which for some, is not a “thing”, but for others like me, is the singular reason I am alive on the planet at this time. Events over the course of my life have been directing me to a path of inner peace, conscientiousness, and desire to find my connection to the universe while living in my body.

As you can imagine (and maybe you are also in this with me), there are approximately 1 million different ways to find purpose and elevation of spirit while living in your physical body. Just take a gander at the plethora of information available to us on the internet, bookstores, and various meetup groups being formed…..psssst….SOMETHING is going on, if you haven’t noticed!

It usually starts with a casual conversation, perhaps about something paranormal or spiritual in nature. Maybe you came through a religious path, or maybe you came at it through a crisis in your life. You get the idea; no one learns the same, but all roads lead to the realization that there is more than what meets the eye at this time. You also feel pulled to investigate it, and feel more fulfilled and loved, and secure when you do. Little things aren’t so big. Emotions are fleeting. We are searching for the good and ignoring the bad.

Recently, I came across a woman who is a channeler. This person had a near death experience, and since that time has been able to speak to archangels….yes….archangels. She leads conferences, and helps people one-to-one, along with her husband who was on a similar path and they fell in love. According to her, and through the guidance of her angels, we as a species are going to enter the age of the 5th Dimension.

We live in a 3 dimensional reality. Beyond this, there are apparently much higher vibrations that can be achieved. The 4th dimension consists of feelings of love, oneness, and lightness. Sounds awesome, but wait….there’s more. The 5th Dimension is even lighter. It vibrates at an even higher frequency, and consists of pure love, a cosmic consciousness, and a multiple-dimension reality.

We aren’t even close to being there. Ask you next-door neighbor. He might look at you as if you need mental assistance. Nope! You’re not crazy at all, it really is starting to shift. The world is on the precipice of either disaster, or joining together to create a more beautiful world full of higher consciousness. We need to drop the bad self-talk, and the even worse external talk. Our DNA is actually influenced by positive thinking, as current epigenetic research is finding. Here is a link to one such article:

https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2012/04/11/epigenetic-vs-determinism.aspx

The ends of our DNA, called telomeres, can be lengthened with mindful meditation, which has helped people with chronic disease conditions lengthen their lives. Here is an article on that:

powerofpositivity.com/heres-how-your-thoughts-effect-your-dna/

Everyday I am amazed at how positive thinking can improve my life. I am also amazed that other people can detect this simply through simple contact. For example, last week I listened to some uplifting music by Simrit (one of my favorite Kundalini yogi singers) before work, and the strangest thing happened. As I met other co-workers, I could tell that they were being uplifted simply from talking to me. I know that sounds a bit weird and self-serving, but I couldn’t help noticing that people wanted to be around me, to talk to me, ask my advice on things, etc. It turned out to be a great day. There was a feeling of love, that’s the best I can describe it.

So, the root of it is being comfortable with yourself. It will build into a confidence that you can change into something with a higher vibration, which will lead you to a feeling of belonging in the universe. Simply put: start meditating every day. No excuses. No time requirements. Just sit on the cushion and shut up! Lot’s of things will happen, but you will feel better for it.

I hope I have sparked some curiosity, or even skepticism. It’s all good. Join the species in an upgrade……let’s move into the 5th dimension together.

Cheers, Deb

Merry Christ consciousness

Merry Christmas, no matter what tradition you follow, or if you follow a tradition. Christmas to me, as an American female raised in the Midwest, holds many meanings.

As a child, and up until my 40’s, I would respect traditional Christian teaching and go to church for Christmas service. Christmas has remained my favorite time of the year, not only for commemorating the coming of Christ into physical form, but as a time of hopefulness.

Christmas should be the quiet time of reflection that leads to a sense of peace and security. It should be the last bastion of hope for humankind as far as extending the olive branch of peace. May all people be filled with a loving kindness that permeates any divisions among us.

No matters of religion, gender, political affiliation, age, or wealth gap should separate us from each other at any time! But, we try to be more mindful of this at Christmastime. Why should we? More and more we are embracing a new wave of “Christ consciousness”. What is this, you may ask.

This term may be thought of as “new age”……but I find it to be applicable now more than ever, as we continue to be more interconnected as a species.

Christ consciousness can be defined as: a state of consciousness where a person has found self-realization, and through this, their unity with God (or the Universe, the light, or the energy) that we are all a part of. The expansion of your identity through this body to the omnipresent spirit, will help you realize your consciousness extends throughout the universe.

Wow! Because this thought is not fundamentally Biblical in nature, it may be rejected as anti-Christian. But, I would extend to you, that this may be exactly what Christ was trying to teach through parables and miracles. Any act of self-realization is good for the planet. It shines a light on the fact that we are all pretty much the same, in form and experience. Christ never taught divisiveness or hatred, jealousy, or judgement by another person. We all have lessons to learn, and love to give.

So, as we say in church, let your light shine…..Merry Christmas everyone. Let’s share some love and peace this holiday season. Cheers, Deb

Dog Daze

Imagine, if you will, being born into a hot, dirty trailer on the Eastern plains of Colorado. You have no running water, no air conditioning, and 15 other siblings. You are a small dog. A small dog that no one notices, because you are just another number – another mouth to feed (if you’re lucky). Your human is, obviously, one crazy specimen….

This was the scenario for the lucky, lucky dog that I just adopted yesterday. He was labeled “John”, for purposes of identification, but didn’t know his name. John is part Cairn terrier, you know, like ToTo from the “Wizard of Oz”. But John is only 7 pounds, and has just enough wiry black and brown hair to visually make you identify him as a dog, and not a large rat. John had 2 siblings left at the shelter, both sisters, and one of them was adopted the day before he was. I am sure little “Pauline” will be adopted as well. They are so stinking cute!

ANDIAMO, AKA “John”
bonding with Dad

Since he didn’t know his name, we named him Andiamo (here we go, in Italian). He is turning out to be a regular Einstein. He learned his name in a couple of hours, as well as “down”. He is learning that peeing and pooping inside the house is discouraged….but, how was he to know where to go after living in a ghetto, and then a shelter, where elimination times are very limited? Hey, you do what you gotta do!

He is falling in love with the fact that he now has a real family, and we love him. He follows us all over the house, and slept in his little crate without even the slightest peep last night. It was an exhausting day for all of us, after all. He finally counts; he finally belongs! I’m so happy for him, as well as us. It has been over a year since our beloved Buster crossed the rainbow bridge to doggie heaven, and we are ready to open our hearts again. Your pets are your family as well. They are loyal beings that never give up on you. Even a dog that is beaten stays with the offender, because he knows that is his human. I feel it is our responsibility and opportunity to exhibit to ourselves, as well as others, that we are humane. We are spiritual beings that can love each other and all other sentient beings. Whether you rescue a dog from a hot trailer, or chose to breed a winning show dog, they have the same special place in your heart. I think people that can really love an animal are the best type of people. Being able to put someone’s needs ahead of your own brings out the best in you. You radiate love, and can surprise yourself.

Many times I have had the thought that dogs are like angels among us. Maybe they are just that, in disguise. Ready to take that beating, or that love, in order to evaluate who we really are. They are like the pure form of love that flows through the universe. We teach them how to love us, and they teach us how to love them, and everyone else. Dogs are little gurus; our little spiritual teachers. If you don’t have a pet, you might consider rescuing a little guru. If you do…..go give them a big hug and word of encouragement. They’re going to love you more each day.

Enjoy the dog days of summer! Deb
